Event Planner App For iPhone

Poll Sound today announced the immediate availability of the AudioPlanner application for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch. AudioPlanner is the only app developed specifically for event and meeting planners. It empowers them to build audio equipment lists and estimates while on location and gives users free access to the industry’s best sound engineers.

“There’s a need among event planners to plan for audio equipment quickly and with little effort,” said Bryce Stettler, Poll Sound Rental Manager. “And while speed is important, this app also offers them great content. They can plan events on the fly with the estimator, research using the glossary and get free advice from top-rated audio architects—everything needed to achieve audio perfection.”

AudioPlanner is the first app of its kind. With a few touches of a finger, users can plan an event, manage audio-equipment lists, generate budget recommendations for clients and—if they need extra help—get free advice from industry experts.

Use AudioPlanner to:

  • Estimate cost
  • Research audio terms
  • Create checklists for events
  • Record and track upcoming events
  • Consult with seasoned sound engineers

“AudioPlanner is critical when you need to get information as rapidly as possible but don’t want to sacrifice quality, reliability and highly customized estimates,” Stettler said. “Its purpose is to assist the event-planning community.”

AudioPlanner is free and available now at the Apple App Store or at www.AudioPlannerApp.com. It was unveiled and originally distributed at a conference hosted by Meeting Professionals International, the meeting and event industry’s largest and most vibrant global community, boasting 24,000 members.

Event Planners: Real American Heroes

It takes a special kind of person to be an event planner. It requires calm under pressure, the ability to solve problems on the fly, and dogged persistence in seeing that their client’s wishes come to fruition. Another amazing skill is the ability to wrangle the giant, lumbering beast that is a hotel or conference center banquet operation.
I worked for a while in convention management for a large corporation. I was totally unprepared for all the cajoling, sweet talk, bribery and outright threats that went in to working with the staff. And all that hassle is totally behind the curtain stuff that the client doesn’t even want to know about. Frankly, that’s why they hire an event planner. So, hat’s off to you, event planners! Oh, and there’s a problem in the kitchen—you better get back there!

Location Location Location!

A lot of event planning depends on your location, obviously. I can’t even count how many “Wild West” themed events I’ve been to in Tucson, Phoenix and Scottsdale. In a place like Charleston, you have a lot of history, so a lot of Old South ideas come to mind. Also, there’s water all around. So, cruises are a popular event idea. A 3 or 4 hour cruise is relaxing, offers great views, and it’s a great way to keep your group all in one place. Charleston also has plenty of docents and storytellers who can liven up the proceedings by pointing out various landmarks and historical facts and trivia.
